A 29,000 sq ft food storage distribution unit extension has been successfully completed by Jack Lunn Construction for P&B Foods Ltd, one of the largest ethnic and oriental wholesale food distributors in Europe. The Pudsey-based contractor was appointed to design and build the extension to add additional capacity to P&B Foods’ existing 80,000 sq ft distribution centre on Planetrees Road, close to Bradford City Centre.
The single-storey steel frame structure features two electronically operated roller shutter access doors with metal cladding to its façade. Jack Lunn Construction also carried out a significant externals package including the creation of a 30-bay block paved car park with new access and exit routes. Electronic security gates and palisade steel fencing have been erected and a large underground attenuation tank has been installed to control the flow of rainwater into the drainage system.
Chandra Patel, Partner of P&B Foods Ltd, commented: “We have been highly impressed with the Jack Lunn Construction team, which has demonstrated professionalism and a flexible approach throughout the duration of the build. Despite the scope of the project, we have been able to continue to trade without any noticeable disruption to our customers, which was a key criteria when originally selecting a contractor”.
Stephen Bradbury, Managing Director of Jack Lunn Construction, added: “We have worked closely with P&B Foods from the very outset of this project to ensure that both the design and programme for the new extension met our client’s specific requirements. By adopting a flexible and collaborative working approach, Jack Lunn Construction has safely delivered this live environment scheme on time and within budget”.
