Boarding for teenage girls at one leading Harrogate boarding school has just got significantly better, thanks to a major £350,000 makeover of the facilities.
The refurbishment of Norfolk House, Ashville College’s dedicated boarding house for girls aged 12-18, is part of a multi-million-pound development of the college campus.
The work has been undertaken by Leeds-based Jack Lunn Construction, who renovated all the bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas; carried out general repairs to the 20-year-old building and, to reduce running costs and the impact on the environment, installed new mechanical and electrical systems. It was essential that Jack Lunn Construction delivered the works between the end of the previous academic year and the start of the current academic year resulting in an extremely tight fast track programme.
Ashville College Estates Manager Neil Parker said: “This was a major project for the College and Jack Lunn Constructionperformed an outstanding service from start to finish, completing the work to our deadline.
“We can now boast some of the best boarding facilities for girls anywhere in the country, and this forms part of a rolling four-year, multi-million-pound, programme of improvements to the College.”
Jack Lunn Construction’s Contracts Director Andrew Lunn said: “The delivery of this complex programme with an immoveable deadline at the start of the new academic year has required both robust planning and a strong relationship with our client. Early involvement in the project has enabled Jack Lunn Construction to play a key role in the overall delivery team, resulting in a high quality refurbishment, executed on time and within budget to Ashville College’s exacting standards”.
Norfolk House housemistress Emily Walker said: “Norfolk House is home to not only 40 girls during term time, but also three resident tutors, a matron and my family.
“I am delighted that we now have some of the best residential facilities for our girls, to match our outstanding pastoral care record".
